The Fox Went Out
on a Chilly Night
Acrylic on masonite, framed
22"x18"
Based on an anonymous folk song from Middle English:
Oh the fox went out on a chilly night/
He prayed to the moon for to give him light/
He had many a mile to go that night/
Before he reached the town-o, town-o, town-o/
Many a mile to go that night
Before he reached the town-o/

"Among countless other people around the globe, I was inspired by the riveting testimony and courage of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in the Kavanaugh hearings for the United States Supreme Court nomination and approval in 2018. In this painting, Dr. Ford has removed her glasses and is in the process of removing her symbolic 'crown of thorns.' By this simple act, she has freed herself and many women worldwide from a life of trauma and shame. Meanwhile, a panel of her 'peers' continues to conduct 'business as usual.' Dr. Ford has helped chart and champion an upward course for, not only the Women's Movement, but also for the fight for equal rights for all. This painting is making its debut at the Fuller Lodge Art Center's "Mapmaker" Juried Group Exhibition."
