TESTIMONIALS

What people are saying about Michael Andryc, 'Sophisticated Primitive' Modern Art:

I love (the latest) group of paintings!  They all speak.  When you look at them, something is actually whispering in your ear.  How magical.  There is so much more to each of them then just the visual – – and the visual itself is really lovely!  I especially love your grandma (as an angel) holding your little dog, Precious. . . . So bright and the colors are so beautiful!

What people are saying about Michael Andryc, 'Sophisticated Primitive' Modern

Many artists assume alter-egos. For Marcel Duchamp, it was Rrose Selavy (translated in English to “Eros, that is life”), and for German surrealist Max Ernst it was a bird named “Loplop.” For Michael Andryc, it’s his Polish grandmother, Anna. Michael, a self-proclaimed “sophisticated primitive modern artist” (yes, he acknowledges the inherent irony of such a title).  He admits that as a child he was “deathly afraid” of his Babka Anna Andryc, in part because she spoke a foreign language in a time when “no one wanted to talk about their origins before coming to America,” and because she was a woman more tenacious than the era allowed . . .

'She was such a strong woman—married three times—something which was unheard of in those days. One husband even mysteriously disappeared.' Now Michael enjoys hiding behind her in his paintings, traveling with her on outlandish adventures.

What people are saying about Michael Andryc, 'Sophisticated Primitive' Modern

Michael Andryc paints from a perspective that juxtaposes childlike naivety with deep artistic perception. His unique sense of humor is thinly

concealed in his work, which demonstrates a deep love for humanity by the loving manner in which his subjects are portrayed.

What people are saying about Michael Andryc, 'Sophisticated Primitive' Modern

(In Santa Fe) I was really charmed with Michael Andryc who uses pop culture and art icons with vibrant color and humor.  His titles are also hilarious

with commentary and wit.

What people are saying about Michael Andryc, 'Sophisticated Primitive' Modern

It’s not that Andryc is some esoteric purist. While he sold the original painting of ‘Southwestern Cellphone Dancers’ for $2,600, he also sold it as a mondo refrigerator magnet for $20.
